Chess training — play against the computer and move through the levels

Start chess training on Chesswood from level 1. Face the computer, complete the next tasks and improve your skills step by step.

Chesswood training is not random clicking on the board. It is a level-based system that guides a player from simple tasks to more difficult challenges. There are currently 18 levels to complete, and each level helps you train a different part of the game.

Level 1You begin with the first stage and immediately play White against the computer.

How chess training works on Chesswood

Start

You start training from the first level. You enter the board, play against the computer and try to complete the task prepared for that stage.

The levels are arranged so that learning feels natural. First you build the basics, then you learn to use pieces better, plan moves and avoid simple mistakes.

You do not have to wait for an opponent. The computer is ready immediately, so you can practise whenever you have time.

Training is a good place for a player who wants to improve calmly before entering a PvP game.

Level 1 — the first step toward better play

Level 1

The first level is the start of the training path. It is where you can see how the system works and begin your route through the next stages.

When you click “Start level 1”, you go straight to a game against the computer. You play White and can begin training without searching for an opponent.

Chesswood training shows difficulty levels and a calm way to practise against the computer.

Why play against the computer?

Practice

Playing against the computer is useful when you want to practise calmly and without pressure. You can focus on your moves, test ideas and learn from mistakes.

This is especially helpful for beginners who do not always want to start with games against other online players.

  • you practise regularly,
  • you understand the chessboard better,
  • you test moves without pressure,
  • you prepare for PvP games,
  • you build confidence at the board.

18 training levels

Progress

The Chesswood training system is level-based. This means you move through stages one by one.

Each level has its own purpose. One level may teach basic moves, another control of the centre, and another simple plans or better piece coordination.

Thanks to this, you do not try to learn everything at once. You move step by step and see your progress.

There are currently 18 training levels available. They give you a clear path from the first move to stronger play.

Who is chess training for?

Player path

Training is for people who want to play better but do not know where to begin.

  • for beginners,
  • for children and young players,
  • for people returning to chess after a break,
  • for players who want to practise before online games,
  • for anyone who wants to improve calmly, level by level.

Training and online play

Choose mode

If you want to play another person, you can go to online chess. If you want to practise first, computer training is the better choice.

You can complete training levels first and later test your skills in a PvP game.

Education

It is worth combining training with learning the basics. If a move or piece is difficult, you can return to Chesswood education materials.
